Telefónica Update: Emergency Services Impacted by Network Issues
On Tuesday, a network update conducted by Telefónica affected certain services for businesses, particularly disrupting emergency calls to 112 across Spain. According to company sources, Telefónica is actively working to resolve these issues. Reports from 112 call centers in Extremadura and Aragón indicated that the malfunction is impacting emergency phone services nationwide.
In response to the situation, the Valencian Community has set up an alternative emergency contact number: 963428000, advising citizens that the incidents within the national communications network are not directly related to the 112 emergency service. The issues were first reported at 8:18 AM by emergency officials.
The Government of Aragón has also taken precautionary measures, activating three mobile numbers for emergency services due to difficulties in reaching the 112 emergency center. For the duration of the incident, residents are encouraged to use the following alternative lines:
- 638 63 82 73
- 683 13 46 45
- 660 70 58 97
Reports suggest that the disruptions began around 2 AM. According to Downdetector, a website that monitors service issues, the bulk of the complaints were about fixed internet service, with 72% of reports concerning internet connectivity, while 18% indicated loss of signal and 10% noted total service blackout.
As the situation evolves, both local governments and Telefónica continue to assure the public that they are taking necessary measures to minimize the impact of these disruptions on emergency services. Citizens are advised to follow updates and utilize alternative contact numbers where applicable.
