In a statement released on Wednesday evening, festival organizers confirmed that the beloved main stage had suffered extensive damage due to the fire.
Fortunately, it was reported that there were no injuries related to the incident. Eyewitness videos depicted thick clouds of black smoke billowing from the festival grounds in Boom, Belgium, while distant fireworks were seen and heard in the background.
According to Belgium's public broadcaster VRT, the main stage of the festival has nearly been completely destroyed, and emergency services are currently on-site but have not yet managed to get the fire under control.
Although no festivalgoers were on the premises at the time of the fire, approximately 1,000 staff members were present and have since been evacuated by emergency personnel. The electronic dance music festival was originally scheduled to commence on Friday, attracting fans from around the globe.
Despite the unfortunate circumstances, the organizers have announced that the DreamVille campsite is slated to open on Thursday as initially planned. They are now focused on finding solutions for the festival weekend amidst this crisis.
Local police also took to social media platform X to confirm the fire and urged the public to stay away from the smoke and allow emergency services to address the situation.
The cause of the fire remains uncertain as investigations are likely to follow.
