Tragedy Strikes as Handheld Pagers Explode in Lebanon and Syria, Claiming Lives and Injuring Thousands

A Hezbollah official suggested that the explosions were linked to a supposed Israeli security operation targeting the devices. The official stated that the pagers, outdated communication tools carrying lithium batteries—common in consumer electronics—could have malfunctioned, causing the explosions. The Israeli military, however, has refrained from commenting on these accusations.
Hospitals in regions heavily populated by Hezbollah, particularly in southern Lebanon and the eastern Bekaa Valley, have reported overwhelming pressure on their resources, with calls for blood donations to manage the influx of critically injured patients. The aftermath of the blasts has seen devastation, leaving many in immediate need of medical attention.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah had previously cautioned members against using mobile phones, fearing that these devices could be exploited by Israeli forces to track movements and conduct targeted attacks.
