Tragic Attack on Chad's Presidential Palace Claims Lives

At least 19 individuals have lost their lives in a violent assault on the presidential palace in Chad, according to a report by the French foreign broadcaster RFI on Thursday, referring to sources within the Chadian government. Of the deceased, 18 were reported to be attackers, highlighting the intense nature of the confrontation that took place.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night, with 24 assailants reportedly participating in the attack in the capital, N'Djamena. As of now, the identity of those held responsible for this violent act remains unclear.

Chad has experienced significant political tension in recent years, having been under the control of a military junta. Following presidential elections in May, junta leader Mahamat Deby was confirmed as the head of state. He is the son of the late Idriss Deby, who ruled Chad for 31 years following a military coup and passed away in 2021.

This tragic event raises concerns over the security situation in Chad, a country that has had a tumultuous recent history regarding governance and stability.
