Tragic Boat Accident Results in Multiple Drownings in Afghanistans Nangarhar Province
A devastating incident occurred in Afghanistans Nangarhar province where at least 20 people, including children, drowned when a boat sank during a river crossing. The tragedy took place in the Basawul area of Momand Dara district early on Saturday morning. Quraishi Badloon, the head of Nangarhar province's information department, reported that the vessel capsized at 7 am GMT. Reports indicate that the boat was carrying 25 individuals, of whom only five managed to survive. The local health department has confirmed the retrieval of five bodies - a man, a woman, two boys, and a girl, with efforts ongoing to locate the others. As investigations continue into the cause of the accident, it is revealed that the area's residents often rely on locally made boats for transportation due to the lack of a bridge.
