Tragic Bus Accident Claims Lives of 28 Pakistani Pilgrims in Iran

In a devastating bus accident in Iran, at least 28 Pakistani pilgrims have tragically lost their lives. The incident occurred in the central province of Yazd, where state news agency Irna reported that 23 other individuals sustained injuries. Disturbingly, 14 of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, raising concerns about their recovery.

The pilgrims were en route to Iraq for the significant Shiite commemoration of Arbain, a pilgrimage that draws thousands from across the region. A haunting image published by Irna depicts the bus, severely damaged and overturned, with a partially collapsed building facade visible in the background, underscoring the severity of the accident.

In the aftermath, authorities are coordinating the repatriation of the deceased and injured individuals back to Pakistan. The head of the local traffic police has attributed the cause of the accident to a technical failure of the bus's brakes, particularly on a steep section of the road, leading to the driver losing control of the vehicle.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by pilgrims undertaking such journeys, and it highlights the importance of vehicle safety, especially in regions with challenging road conditions.
