They were calling for firefighters, breaking the windows, and some jumped because they could no longer bear the smoke and flames." The trauma was palpable, with one hotel employee recalling an anguished scene where a child cried out for help from a window.
Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy addressed the situation, asserting that the hotel had passed the necessary safety inspections in both 2021 and 2024, with no fire hazards previously noted. However, the exact cause of the fire remains uncertain, with some unverified reports suggesting it started in a restaurant. Rescue missions faced unique challenges due to the hotel’s location on a cliffside, complicating timely assistance.

In a display of solidarity, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the funeral of the Gültekin family, who tragically lost eight members, including four children. "Our hearts are broken," he expressed during the emotional service.
