Tragic Gender-Based Violence Incident in Cartagena: A Community's Call to Action
In a harrowing event that has shaken the community of Cartagena in Murcia, a 47-year-old Spanish man voluntarily turned himself in at a local police station, confessing to the murder of his 50-year-old Colombian wife. According to sources from the Government Delegation in the region, investigators went to the couple’s home where they discovered the lifeless body of the woman. Shockingly, the arrested man was reportedly under an existing restraining order that had just expired on December 6. In response to this tragedy, Cartagena's mayor, Noelia Arroyo, expressed her deep sorrow on Tuesday, emphasizing the impact of such violence on families and communities. Furthermore, she called for a gathering of condemnation set for Wednesday at noon in front of the Consistorial Palace.
