Tragic Incident in Can Pastilla: Woman Murdered and Child Injured in Stabbing
In a tragic turn of events on Tuesday afternoon, a woman was stabbed to death inside a vehicle in Can Pastilla, Palma. The National Police have apprehended a man, estimated to be in his 40s, who was driving the vehicle as the alleged perpetrator. This heinous crime also led to a traffic accident involving the car with the woman and her approximately three-year-old daughter, resulting in injuries to both mother and child and another motorist. According to authorities from the Baleares Superior Police Headquarters and emergency services SAMU061, the incident transpired around 3:00 PM on Can Pastilla road off number 33.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered a car crash that revealed a woman showing clear signs of violence, who was later identified as the victim. Sources from the regional health service IBSalut confirmed that the victim had sustained multiple stab wounds. While investigating the scene, law enforcement found the suspect near the vehicle and arrested him, transferring the case to the Homicide group of the Baleares Headquarters for further investigation.
Authorities are currently trying to establish the relationship between the victim and the suspect, as preliminary inquiries suggest that they may have been a couple. This has raised concerns regarding the possibility that this incident could be classified as a case of gender-based violence. Investigators are also working to identify all individuals present in the vehicle at the time of the attack.
Emergency responders accounted for two casualties from the incident. The most critical was the three-year-old girl, the daughter of the deceased, who suffered a severe cranial injury. Following immediate medical attention, she was rushed to Son Espases Hospital, where her condition has been described as grave. A second woman, aged between 30 to 40, who was involved in the accident while driving another vehicle, was treated for facial injuries and subsequently evacuated to Palmaplanas Clinic.
