Tragic Incident in Madrid Elevator Shaft: Elderly Couple's Struggle Ends in Fatality
In a shocking turn of events, a 77-year-old man tragically lost his life after falling into an elevator shaft under construction in the Madrid neighborhood of EntrevĂas. The incident occurred this Thursday when the man and his wife reportedly got into a violent altercation. Witnesses reveal that the couple was known to often engage in arguments.
Police sources, as reported by EFE, indicated that in an attempt to harm his wife by pushing her down the shaft, the man lost his balance and the two fell from a height of three floors. The Fire Brigade of the City of Madrid was promptly called to the scene, where they managed to rescue both individuals from the elevator shaft. Unfortunately, the man suffered a cardiac arrest that proved fatal, with emergency responders from Samur-Civil Protection unable to revive him after 30 minutes of intensive resuscitation efforts.
Meanwhile, the woman sustained multiple traumatic injuries and was stabilized at the scene before being transported to a hospital in critical condition.
