Tragic Loss: Extreme Sports Star Marta Jiménez Dies at 34 During Base Jump

Marta Jiménez, a renowned extreme sports specialist and collaborator on the popular television show El Hormiguero aired on Antena 3, has sadly passed away at the young age of 34. Her untimely death occurred while she was performing a base jump in the scenic area of Punta Calva in the town of Plan, located in the Huesca Pyrenees. The Spanish Base Jumping Association confirmed the tragic news to El Heraldo. On Sunday morning around 10:30 AM, authorities were alerted to an accident involving an athlete from Huesca who had suffered a fall while parachuting from a mountain ridge. Civil Guard representatives quickly surveyed the area and located Jiménez but regrettably confirmed her death at the scene. Her body was subsequently transported to the Boltaña aircraft before being moved to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Huesca for further examination. Known affectionately as the 'Adrenaline Woman' on Pablo Motos' show, Jiménez had been a collaborator for two seasons and was famous for completing over 400 jumps throughout her thrilling career. Among the standout moments on El Hormiguero was her daring bungee jump, as well as an exceptional base jump from a crane positioned 60 meters high in the studio's parking lot. This particular jump was so impressive that Motos described it as the toughest challenge ever witnessed on El Hormiguero, admitting he experienced a panic attack during the rehearsal. Jiménez’s passion for extreme sports was evident, and her journey into this thrilling world began quite unexpectedly. "I was one of those typical girls who loved going on roller coasters," she explained in an interview with El Periódico de Aragón. Her entry into extreme sports came by chance when a partner who worked for a bungee company invited her to try an activity. "I didn’t think twice; I liked it a lot," she recalled, sharing her aspirations of achieving a jump from altitudes of 5000 or even 6000 meters in Peru. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risks associated with extreme sports, as well as the palpable loss felt by friends, family, and fans of Marta Jiménez. As the world mourns her passing, the legacy of her adventurous spirit continues to inspire those who seek the thrill of the extreme. Related Sources: • Source 1 • Source 2
