Train Services Disrupted in Barcelona After Euromed Train Derailment

Train departures from Barcelona faced significant disruptions on Friday morning at 8:50 AM due to a derailment incident involving a Euromed train. The train derailed while exiting the depots located in the Can Tunis area, leading to an immediate halt in train operations, according to statements from Renfe to Europa Press.

The derailment has resulted in damage to both the train and the facilities, prompting the need for repairs by Adif, the Spanish railway infrastructure manager. As a consequence of the incident, not only the derailed Euromed train is affected, but also up to six additional trains that were in the vicinity at the time of the derailment. Fortunately, none of the trains involved in the incident were carrying passengers.

Renfe has indicated that operations will not resume until the necessary repairs are completed. Passengers planning to travel from Barcelona are advised to check for updates and alternative travel options as the situation develops. Authorities are working diligently to resolve the issue and restore normal train services as quickly as possible.
