Travis Scott Arrested in Paris Amid Olympic Excitement

Rapper Travis Scott, 33, was arrested in the early hours of Friday in Paris following an altercation with a security guard at the luxury George V hotel, where he was staying during the Olympic Games. According to the Paris Public Prosecutors Office, the incident unfolded as a fight broke out between Scott and his bodyguard, prompting hotel staff to call the police due to violence against a receptionist.

It has been reported that Scott was under the influence of alcohol at the time, making it difficult for authorities to question him initially. A police source confirmed to local media that the rapper was intoxicated both at the time of the incident and throughout his subsequent police custody. Officers responded to the hotel around 5 am and videos of the arrest circulating on social media show Scott in handcuffs, exhibiting signs of drunkenness as he was placed in a police car.

Scott was released shortly after the arrest. The last public appearance before the incident was at Thursday night's Olympic basketball semifinal, where the United States triumphed over Serbia with a score of 95-91. Following the thrilling match, he celebrated by partying, as showcased on his Instagram stories, which boast 57 million followers.

The Paris Prosecutors Office has stated that an investigation into the incident is active, being conducted by the first district of the Judicial Police.

This is not the first time Scott has faced legal trouble. Earlier in June, he was arrested in Miami for trespassing and disorderly intoxication after authorities responded to an incident reported to be a fight on a yacht. Although the yacht owners did not pursue charges, they simply asked the artist to leave. Scott was eventually fined $150 for disorderly conduct and $500 for trespassing.

Travis Scott is known for the often chaotic and disorderly nature of his performances. His most tragic incident occurred at the Astroworld festival in Houston in November 2021, where a crowd surge led to the deaths of ten individuals and left many others injured. Although Scott did not face criminal charges, he remains involved in civil lawsuits stemming from the event's poor organization.

Just a week prior to his arrest in Paris, Scott performed two concerts in Madrid as part of his Circus Maximus World Tour, which is set to conclude on February 4, 2025, in Munich, Germany. His album, Utopia, has become the bestselling hip-hop release of 2023, maintaining the top spot on the Billboard Top 200 for four consecutive weeks and garnering over 50 billion streams worldwide.
