Truck Overturns in Whatcom County, Releasing 250 Million Bees
On Friday, a truck transporting over 31 tons of beehives and bees overturned under circumstances that remain unclear in Whatcom County, Washington State, United States. The mishap resulted in most of its cargo being scattered, leading to an astonishing release of approximately 250 million bees into the vicinity. In response, the county sheriff has issued a warning to local residents, advising them to maintain a distance of at least 200 meters from the site of the incident to prevent potential bee stings and to facilitate recovery efforts.
To assist in the situation, several local beekeepers are present on-site, working diligently to corral the bees and return them to their respective hives, where the queen bees are still situated. The sheriff's office has informed the public that they anticipate most of the bees will be successfully recovered within a 48-hour timeframe.
