Trump Expresses Disappointment Over Putin's Actions in Ukraine

Donald Trump surprised many on Sunday as he openly criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for the ongoing bombardment of Ukrainian cities. Speaking to reporters at an airport in New Jersey, Trump expressed his discontent with Putin's actions, stating, "I'm not happy with what Putin is doing. He's killing a lot of people and I don't know what the hell happened to Putin."

Having known Putin for years and previously having a cordial relationship with him, Trump’s comments reflect a notable shift in tone. "I’ve always gotten along with him, but he’s sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don’t like it at all," Trump continued. The former president couldn't hide his disbelief as he remarked, "We’re in the middle of talking and he’s shooting rockets into Kyiv and other cities. I’m surprised. I’m very surprised."

When pressed by a reporter about his next steps given the renewed Russian offensive, Trump replied evasively, suggesting that he wouldn't reveal his plans, adding, "What am I going to tell you? You’re the fake news, aren’t you? You’re totally fake."

Despite his critical remarks about Putin's actions, Trump had previously voiced opinions that appeared to align more closely with his historical admiration for the Russian leader. Just a month ago, Trump took to social media to express discontent with Russia's attacks on Kyiv, stating, "I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP!" He urged for an immediate peace deal, emphasizing his long-standing belief that he could resolve the Ukraine conflict swiftly if he were president again.

In the context of broader international relations, Trump also confirmed a delay in implementing new tariffs on imports from the European Union until July 9, following a discussion with EU President Ursula von der Leyen. He described their conversation as "very nice" and suggested that Europe is eager to move negotiations forward.

Additionally, Trump reiterated his administration's stance on limiting the enrollment of foreign students at prestigious universities like Harvard, reinforcing his commitment to prioritizing American interests.

Overall, Trump's comments signify a complex and evolving stance towards Putin and the conflict in Ukraine, indicating potential challenges and diplomatic negotiations to come.
