Valencia City Council Raided Over Allegations Against Vox Councillor

A group of agents from the Central Operational Unit UCO of the Civil Guard has raided the offices of the Valencia City Council, acting on orders from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. This investigation focuses on contracts signed by Vox councillor Juan Manuel Badenas. Sources close to the investigation reported to EFE that the operation pertains to a complaint made against Badenas, who previously held the position of municipal spokesperson for Vox, filed by the Socialist group. This has prompted the Prosecutor's Office to open an investigation into alleged crimes including malpractice, misappropriation, and document forgery.

On the same day, the PSPV-PSOE, the Socialist group, announced that the complaint was lodged following the hiring of sponsorships with the publisher of OK Diario, amounting to €14,500 plus VAT. This commercial agreement reportedly included an interview with Badenas, during which he allegedly made political statements against the Government of Spain.

The unfolding events at the Valencia City Council signify a serious approach to tackling corruption and unethical conduct within local government. The ramifications of this investigation could have significant implications for Badenas and his political career, as well as for the broader political landscape in Valencia.
