Valencia Court Dismisses Case Against Former Councilor Mónica Oltra Over Alleged Coverup
The Court of Instruction number 15 in Valencia has decided not to proceed with an oral trial in the case against Mónica Oltra, the former councilor and vice president of the Valencian government, along with other members of her team in the Department of Equality. This decision pertains to allegations that they covered up sexual abuse of a minor under guardianship by Oltra's ex-husband.
According to an order released by EFE on Friday, the judge has once again agreed to the provisional dismissal of charges against all those implicated, a ruling originally made in April 2024. This earlier decision was overturned by the Provincial Court of Valencia, which had mandated the reopening of the case.
The Prosecutor's Office, in its resolution, indicated that the reported facts do not constitute any criminal infringement, thereby supporting the dismissal of the case against Oltra and her associates. This ruling follows months of scrutiny surrounding the serious allegations and marks a significant moment in a case that has drawn considerable public attention.
As the legal proceedings conclude, Mónica Oltra and her team can now move forward without the cloud of these allegations hanging over them, as they focus on their political careers and responsibilities. This case has generated extensive discussion about accountability in situations involving vulnerable individuals and the responsibilities of public officials toward them.
