Valladolid International Film Week Celebrates Cinematic Excellence
The Valladolid International Film Week concluded with a grand ceremony on Saturday, awarding the prestigious Golden Spike to the French film "Misericordia," directed by Alain Guiraudie. This film not only took home the top honor but also clinched the Miguel Delibes Award for Best Screenplay, making a remarkable impact on the jury during this year's festival.
The Silver Spike was awarded to two films in a joint decision: "Stranger Eyes" by Yeo Siew Hua and "Polvo serán" by Carlos Marquet-Marcet, recognizing the exceptional storytelling and artistic vision of both works. In the directing category, the Ribera del Duero Award for Best Director was given to Chinese filmmaker Guan Hu for his work on "Black Dog," highlighting the global reach and diversity of the festival.
In the performance categories, Laura Weissmahr was honored with the Best Actress award for her compelling portrayal in "Salve María." The competition for Best Actor saw Jann Gunner Roise and Thorbjorn Harr sharing the accolade for their roles in "Sex," showcasing outstanding talent in acting.
Additionally, the festival recognized the skillful editing of Telmo Churro and Pedro Filipe Marques, who received the José Salcedo Award for their work on "Grand Tour." A special mention was also given to the talented actors Ángela Molina and Alfredo Castro for their contributions to "Polvo serán," underscoring the festival's commitment to celebrating both emerging and established talents in the world of cinema.
