Zelensky Accuses North Korea and Iran of Supporting Russia in Ukrainian Conflict
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made serious allegations against North Korea and Iran, claiming that both nations have become accomplices in Russia's ongoing assault on Ukraine. Zelensky accused these countries of providing weapons and collaborating with Russian President Vladimir Putin in efforts to annex Ukrainian territory, thus playing a pivotal role in the loss of Ukrainian lives.
In response, Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and deputy director of the Publicity and Information Department of the Workers' Party of North Korea, strongly condemned Zelensky's statements. She dismissed the claims as 'absurd', arguing that her country should not be held accountable for the conflict. "Zelensky's evil gang is massacring innocent Russians using trash weapons supplied by the United States and the West," she stated, labeling the president's claims as a 'reckless political provocation.'
Kim expressed growing irritation with Zelensky’s approach and suggested that the international community is beginning to lose patience. "The world is beginning to tire of Zelensky's stingy tricks. I don’t know how much more can be done with compassion and sympathy, but for the sake of world peace and stability, it would be better for him to resign in time before it is too late," she added.
Concerns about North Korea's involvement in the conflict are compounded by Western intelligence reports alleging that Pyongyang has been supplying short-range ballistic missiles to Russia. A recent study by Conflict Armament Research, a British arms monitoring organization, claims to have analyzed remnants of missiles used in Ukrainian attacks this summer and concluded that they were produced in North Korea in 2023.
Despite these allegations, both Russia and North Korea have denied any illicit arms transfers between them. Moscow maintains that its military resources are sourced from domestic suppliers.
As the conflict continues to escalate, the implications of these accusations raise further questions about the alliances forming around the ongoing war and the potential impact on regional security in Europe and beyond.
