Zelenskyy Visits Kupiansk Amid Russian Claims of Control
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a symbolic visit to the outskirts of Kupiansk, a city in eastern Ukraine, following reports of Russian forces claiming control over the area. In a recent video, Zelenskyy referenced the Kremlin's assertions about the city's conquest, emphasizing that these claims are unfounded. He expressed gratitude to Ukrainian soldiers for their commitment to defending their homeland.
Kupiansk had already been under Russian control for nearly seven months since the onset of the invasion in February 2022. Before the war, the city had a population of approximately 27,000 residents, but it now lies largely devastated by ongoing conflict. The president's visit underscores Ukraine's resolve to reclaim territories and dispel misinformation regarding Russian advances.
